Who We Are

What is in a name...

Warboys - is a good sized village near Huntingdon and St Ives, Cambridgeshire.

Grace - This is the most important word in our name! Grace means undeserved favour - being given something good, not because we have earned it or deserve it, but because the giver has freely chosen to give it.
We believe and preach that salvation from sin is God's gracious gift to those who believe in Jesus Christ.

Baptist - Jesus Christ commanded His followers to baptise those who believed the message of the Gospel. Baptism doesn't do anything to you… except make you very wet! It's an outward sign of an inward change. We used to do baptisms in the village pond, known locally as 'The Weir', but now it's civilized - in a warm water pool in the church!

Church - We are called a church because we are a group of people who have been saved by Jesus Christ and who meet together to worship him as Lord and God.

What is our purpose ?

Take a look at our mission statement.

What are we like ?

We are a family - we enjoy spending time together. We span the age range, we come from different parts of the world and we do many different jobs.

Mainstream - We are part of the mainstream Christian church that is now  nearly two thousand years old. We believe what Christians of earlier generations have believed - people you might have heard of, like Martin Luther and John Newton.

Old yet modern - We try to express what it means to be a Christian in the 21st century. Our beliefs may be old, but our church Bibles use modern English (we use the New International Version). We sing songs from the past and the present (we use New Christian Hymns and our own supplement). Our building is old, but warm and inviting.

We are part of an informal grouping of churches called The Association of Grace Baptist Churches West Anglia
